3D model of a steampunk airship I'm working on, from a sketch I made.

Fantastic work. I wrote up a bit of steampunk fiction, and would like to use this as the feature's artwork. I will give you all credit and link back to your page. Love the details of the rigging and the ship itself!

Looks realistic!! Infact Im building a remote controlled airship myself and it looks like its going to be proportioned very similarly. ^_^

Your canopy looks large enough in relation to the ship to be plausible. Did you actually work out the right canopy size using the physics of buoyancy? If so, can you tell me what sources of information you used on the physics of lighter than air flight? I'm developing an airship design myself, for a friend's steampunk fantasy novel, and I would like to make it physically plausible.

Nice practical steampunk design. I like the props oriented for vectored thrust also.

That is one impressive SteamPunk airship! :wow:

Your drive to detail is what I find most impressive about this model. Everything about it from the "Sharks Teeth" running the length of her spine up top to her spear point bow are all reminiscent of "Wolf pack" WW2 German subs. Even the rigging looks functional and in the right places. ^ ^

But what gets you the two thumbs up from me is that you have made a conscious effort to contour the smoke stacks around the balloon, up and out. Most folks including myself, often forget to consider steam powered things needs long smoke stacks to function properly. Your double pipes not only looks plausible, but is esthetically pleasing as well. ^ ^

Thanks mate.

I paid a lot of attention to the details like rigging, catheads, and ratlines as I've been researching ships, airships, and I'm a sailor on a tall ship in Chicago.

You can't forget about the flues! You don't want to be choked by smoke!

Thanks! I tend to go nuts with details. Lots and lots of little details. Many not even visible :P
